Completed on 3 April 1856, the Notaries’ Chamber has a monumental entrance consisting of a hall with a double-height sub-ceiling on the side that opens onto Place du Châtelet, and a large sculpted stoneware staircase. The Rue Saint Denis and Boulevard Sébastopol facades originally consisted of shops which occupied the ground floor and the mezzanine. Today, the Public Information Centre is located on the ground floor on the side of Boulevard Sébastopol.
